Clinical governance

Safety protocols we follow on every patient

Our practice follows the World Health Organization's infection-prevention guidance for oral health services and the FDI World Dental Federation's statements on patient safety, consent and record keeping.

Lux Dental Clinic clinicians in scrubs at the practice
  • Infection prevention & control

Instruments are cleaned, pouched and sterilised in a class-B autoclave with cycle logging and periodic biological (spore) testing, in line with WHO and FDI infection-control guidance.

  • Single-use where it matters

Needles, scalpel blades, suction tips, gloves, bibs and barrier film are single-use only and disposed of in colour-coded sharps and clinical waste containers.

  • Informed consent

Every treatment plan is explained with options, risks, alternatives and costs before we begin. Nothing is started without your written consent.

  • Radiation safety

Radiographs are prescribed only when clinically justified, using digital sensors, lead aprons and the ALARA principle to keep exposure as low as reasonably achievable.

  • Medical records & confidentiality

Clinical notes, radiographs and medical histories are stored securely and shared only with your consent or where required by law.

  • Medical emergencies

Our team maintains basic life support training and the clinic keeps a stocked emergency kit with oxygen and emergency drugs, checked on a fixed schedule.

I would absolutely recommend this clinic. I was there for the first time and they are totally friendly and professional. I am very scared of the dentist, but they made me feel completely comfortable.

Around eight appointments in six months and the correct treatment every time. Well organised, clean, higher standards and equipment than anywhere else I tried.
